The third day of IAA MOBILITY featured a visit from German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, as well as exciting presentations on topics such as diversity in mobility, rethinking marketing approaches in the age of AI and the metaverse, and discussions on why mobility is a basic need. In addition, Formula 3 racing driver Sophia Flörsch spoke about automotive innovations and her dream of one day racing in Formula 1.

To that end, Danny Shapiro, Head of Automotive at NVIDIA, spoke about how generative AI is opening up new opportunities for the automotive industry to improve vehicle design, engineering and manufacturing, as well as marketing and sales, streamlining workflows while uncovering new business ideas. Beyond the automotive product lifecycle, generative AI is also essential for new breakthroughs in autonomous vehicle (AV) development, Shapiro said. 

To that end, Danny Shapiro, Head of Automotive at NVIDIA, spoke about how generative AI is opening up new opportunities for the automotive industry to improve vehicle design, engineering and manufacturing, as well as marketing and sales, streamlining workflows while uncovering new business ideas. Dr. Marcus Bollig and Dr. Andreas Cornset

In another panel discussion, VDA Managing Director Dr. Marcus Bollig and Dr. Andreas Cornet of McKinsey also discussed the supply of semiconductors in Europe and how it can be secured in the face of increasing demand for chips due to new automotive trends such as autonomous driving, connectivity, digital services and electrification.

Towards a self-sufficient semiconductor supply

A panel on "Diversity in Mobility: The Benefit for Innovation" was also held. Jointly organized by the PROUT AT WORK Foundation and Women in Mobility, the event discussed what it means when we talk about diversity in organizations. The discussion focused on both the benefits and the challenges, as well as the resistance that still needs to be overcome in order to create a diverse workplace for all. The experts also explored how diversity can be used as a driver for innovation. After the panel discussion, the organizers invited all guests and visitors to a "Women's Walk" with stops at ZF Group, CARIAD/VW and BMW.  

Representatives of the Dutch Cycling Embassy, World Bicycle Relief and the German Cyclists' Federation (ADFC) in Bavaria also spoke about mobility as a basic need. The panelists discussed how bicycles, in particular, can help ensure that mobility is freely accessible to all. 

Sophia Flörsch spoke about automotive innovations and her dream of one day racing in Formula 1

On Thursday, Formula 3 racing driver Sophia Flörsch visited IAA MOBILITY. The 22-year-old spoke at the IAA Conference about her racing career, her determination to succeed as a woman in a male-dominated field, and super-automotive innovations that could shape motorsport and mobility in general in the coming years. She also spoke about her dream of one day competing in Formula 1.  

Citizens Lab discussions and poetry slam at Marienplatz and open-air concerts at Königsplatz 

At the Citizens Lab at Marienplatz on Thursday, topics such as mobility in rural areas and the future of taxi traffic were discussed. There was also a poetry slam on Thursday. In addition, visitors could listen to a living room concert with Lauraine at the Odeonsplatz. In the evening, visitors could look forward to a performance by Pretty Pink at Max-Joseph-Platz from 20:00 - 22:00 and the two evening concerts at Königsplatz with Levent Geiger from 20:00 - 20:45 and Leony from 21:15 - 22:30.
