The IAA Open Space brings tomorrow's mobility into the heart of Munich's city center. Surrounded by art and culture, food concepts and live entertainment, visitors from all over the world can experience sustainable, intelligently connected mobility solutions at first hand in the city's most prominent locations and learn about new, innovative mobility concepts in direct dialog with exhibitors. Additionally, visitors are welcome to test everything from cars to e-scooters and e-bikes on test tracks. Open to the public and free of charge

The IAA Open Space is Germany’s largest event taking place at a city center: From the Marienplatz to the Odeonsplatz and the Königsplatz, the exhibition space stretches across the entire city center of Munich and offers a program for the whole family and all ages. At the Königsplatz, visitors can look forward to a festival with a wide range of art, culture and live entertainment. At the Marienplatz, the Citizens Lab offers a place where visitors can actively and constructively participate in a dialog about the future of mobility and urban and rural development. Around the Odeonsplatz, visitors can test new mobility options - from cars to e-scooters and e-bikes - on our designated test tracks.

With the IAA Open Space, IAA MOBILITY brings the innovative mobility of tomorrow to the place where it can be experienced: right in the center of Munich. Exhibitors will focus on concepts and products for new and sustainable mobility. All vehicle and mobility presentations will focus on zero- or low-emission solutions. This makes IAA MOBILITY an event that expands visitors' horizons and creates a positive image of the future of innovative mobility. All IAA MOBILITY offerings in the city center are free of charge. IAA MOBILITY is a forward-looking concept because it brings tomorrow's mobility to where it is supposed to be lived: In the city center. The IAA Open Space gives exhibitors the opportunity to meet their customers, users, and brand ambassadors at the most prominent locations in downtown Munich. In contrast to the classic brand presentation, exhibitors address the public with elements that focus on dialog and entertainment. The booth constructions are designed in an urban way to fit into the cityscape as organically as possible. Additionally, the mobility solutions presented can be experienced right on site: visitors can test everything from cars to e-scooters and e-bikes.
As part of IAA MOBILITY 2023, Open Space exhibitors are committed to offsetting the unavoidable emissions caused by their presence at the event by supporting climate protection projects. More information can be found here.
The Family Trail is an interactive scavenger hunt for children through the entire IAA Open Space with various stations and great prizes.
At IAA MOBILITY 2023, there will be various testing opportunities. As part of the test drives, zero-emission cars will be available at several starting points within the IAA Open Space.
On the bicycle test track at the Englischer Garten in the IAA Open Space, bicycles and e-bikes can be tested on two circuits of different lengths. Here no license plates are required for the vehicles. The bikes will be handed out at the booths of the participating exhibitors in the Hofgarten and at the Ludwigstrasse. The Bus Shuttle allows IAA visitors to experience the latest bus innovations from the passengers’ seat. Several stops at the IAA Open Space and one complementary stop at the IAA Summit will connect the various IAA locations. Admission to the IAA Summit is for trade visitors only and requires a ticket.

The Citizens Lab is a free dialog platform within the framework of the IAA MOBILITY 2023. The components of the Citizens Lab are the Dialog Arena (the Citizens Lab stage), a workshop area, exhibition areas and lounge areas. The aim is to bring people together on Munich's Marienplatz and to facilitate an open, solution-oriented dialog on the key issues relating to "mobility of the future". The Citizens Lab provides a platform for a wide range of innovations, products, and discourses on the question of how to make urban and rural mobility more climate friendly. The Citizens Lab is not a specialist event. The citizen-oriented dialogs and participation formats cover both, technological and social topics.
The Citizens Lab is a free offer to all citizens and stakeholders of the urban society and everyone visiting IAA MOBILITY can actively and constructively participate in this dialog about the future at the Citizens Lab.
